Newly created social and solidarity economy organizations and enterprises (SSEOEs) with limited track records often face a challenge in obtaining key resources from key resource holders such as governments, job applicants, impact investors, or social finance institutes. This entry explains knowledge and skills for SSEOEs to acquire relevant resources. It first explains the institutional characteristics and complexity involved in the management of SSEOEs and then introduces knowledge and economic and legal skills required to manage SSEOEs. Finally, the entry introduces various signaling mechanisms for SSEOEs to acquire relevant resources and explore the signaling effects of social and economic elements of SSEOEs, in particular social enterprises.
